Watchdog: 5K allegedly illegal voter registrations found in Milwaukee before WI election

The following information is from Just the News.

With just days to go before high-profile elections in Wisconsin, a watchdog group says it uncovered nearly 5,000 allegedly illegal voter registrations on Milwaukee’s voter rolls—all tied to ballots cast in the November election.

The grassroots group Fair Elections Wisconsin (FEW) submitted its challenge to the Milwaukee Election Commission, citing voters who had moved out of state or county, or registered using commercial addresses, PO boxes, or incomplete apartment information. The group says 4,878 suspect registrations were tied to ballots that had already been cast.

Despite the documentation, the commission declined to act on the challenge.

“When I asked them if they were interested in looking into potential voter fraud, the response was, ‘Meeting adjourned.’”
—Justin Gavery, President, Fair Elections Wisconsin

According to FEW’s analysis, 2,926 of the registrations used addresses with missing or incorrect apartment numbers, 501 were changed to PO boxes, 24 listed commercial locations like UPS or FedEx stores, and 11 used an actual US Post Office address—none of which are legal residential addresses under state election law.

While Wisconsin voted for Donald Trump in the November election, Kamala Harris received a large share of the vote in Milwaukee County, where the flagged registrations were found.

The timing of the alleged irregularities adds weight to Tuesday’s elections, which include a ballot initiative to enshrine voter ID requirements into the state constitution and a tight, closely watched race for the state Supreme Court. While voter ID is already state law, supporters say a constitutional amendment would prevent activist judges from reversing it.

Democrat-backed Susan Crawford is running against Republican-backed Brad Schimel in a race that could shift the ideological balance of the state’s highest court. A recent poll showed the contest tied 47%–47%, with the outcome likely to impact future election-related rulings. Conservatives currently hold three seats on the court, while liberals hold four.

The commission did not respond to requests for comment.
