New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani released a video on Monday urging residents to vote early and saying nothing should stand between New Yorkers and the ballot, including any ID requirement.
In the clip posted to his official account, Mamdani told viewers they don’t need to bring anything to vote and that the city’s elections are “secure.”

Early voting runs through November 1, with Election Day on November 3.
New York law generally relies on signature matching for registered voters rather than requiring photo ID at the polls for most people, with limited exceptions for certain first-time mail registrants who can still vote via affidavit ballot.
CNN commentator Scott Jennings highlighted the video alongside Mamdani’s earlier social media posts instructing people on how to respond if approached by ICE agents.
His last 2 videos are instructing illegals on how to evade ICE, and now this one reminding everyone that no ID is required to vote in NYC.
They aren’t being subtle, folks.

Jennings wrote, “His last 2 videos are instructing illegals on how to evade ICE, and now this one reminding everyone that no ID is required to vote in NYC. They aren’t being subtle, folks.”
The combination of messages on ICE encounters and voting without identification raises questions about enforcement of citizenship requirements and the message he is trying to send to illegal aliens.
As Mamdani works to impede ICE and urges people to vote without IDs, election integrity advocate Lulu Friesdat of SMART Elections described an incident while serving as a poll watcher in the Bronx.
In a video Friesdat shared on Facebook about what happened, she alleges poll workers were dismissed and left the site while voting machines remained unlocked and unsealed, with ballots still inside.

Friesdat said standard procedure requires shutting down machines, sealing them, and removing ballots in the presence of observers.
When she stayed to observe the process, a coordinator became agitated, contacted a deputy chief clerk, and told her to leave.
Police were called, and she was ordered out, leaving a technician to handle the machines without the watcher present, according to her video statement.
Friesdat has previously documented concerns about how voting equipment is handled in New York City elections and has been involved in lawsuits over ballot and machine procedures.
