Cameron Kasky, a former gun-control activist now running in the Democratic primary for retiring Rep. Jerry Nadler’s (D., N.Y.) congressional seat, declared “shortsighted” and “stupid” “white boys” responsible for President Donald Trump’s victory last November in a TikTok video posted soon after the election.
“White boys, we just handed the election to Donald Trump because we are the biggest f—ing babies in the world and act like victims when we’re not,” Kasky said. “We Juul in bed at 7:00 a.m. and blame women for not wanting to f— us, we see diversity and inclusion and think we’re losing something, and now we get to watch the consequences of our action—and inaction—for many years. Make no mistake: We are going to pay for Donald Trump too; you’re just too shortsighted and stupid to f—ing see it.”
Kasky’s harsh words for “white boys” mirror the statements he has issued since formally launching his campaign on Tuesday. An announcement video he posted on X makes clear he plans to stake out a far-left lane in the primary, mentioning policies like “social housing and Medicare for All” and decrying “genocide, Palantir mass surveillance contracts, and ICE thugs.”
Kasky’s campaign website includes a promise to oppose sending money or weapons—including defensive weapons—to Israel, which he describes as “the direct result of a colonial project and corporate interest that willingly puts its own citizens in harm’s way with regional conflict escalation” and “endanger[s] Jews across the world by falsely associating its own violent, horrific acts with our very existence.”
He claims on the website that elected officials who favor aid to Israel “are not only supporting a genocide, they are financially invested in it.”
Other policies on his website include Medicare for All, abolishing ICE, and free abortions. A “Combat Hate Crimes” section blames “neo-Nazis who are running rampant” for anti-Semitism, accusing the “pro-Israel community” of “trying to turn Jews who simply want to feel safe against our many fellow Jews who criticize the State of Israel’s genocidal actions.”
Kasky joins a crowded primary contest to replace Nadler—whose colleagues described him as the worst-smelling man in Congress—that already includes state lawmakers like Alex Bores and Micah Lasher, as well as Kennedy family scion Jack Schlossberg.
Kasky first came to prominence as a survivor of the 2018 shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla., in 2018. He founded the March for Our Lives organization alongside a group that included former Democratic National Committee vice chair and pillow salesman David Hogg.
Kasky states in his announcement that the shooting “didn’t happen in spite of the American system. It happened because of it.”
In a text statement provided to the Washington Free Beacon, Kasky defended the TikTok video.
“I think I lay it out pretty clearly in the video,” he wrote. “Everybody is paying the price, not just the women and minorities that Trump voters took no issue throwing under the bus at the ballot box.”
