The Brew: Trump Awards Charlie Kirk Posthumous Presidential Medal of Freedom

The Daily Mail reports on an uplifting, if bittersweet event:

President Donald Trump has awarded Charlie Kirk the Medal of Freedom, marking what would have been his assassinated friend’s 32nd birthday.

Charlie’s widow Erika wiped away tears as Trump handed her the highest civilian honor at a ceremony in the White House Rose Garden on Tuesday.

‘You have given him the best birthday gift he could ever have,’ the mother of two said as Trump beamed at her.

The president, who returned from a whirlwind Middle East peace mission late last night, said: ‘I raced back halfway around the globe. I was going to call Erika and ask, “Could you maybe move it to Friday?” but I didn’t have the courage to call.’

‘But you know why I didn’t call? Because I heard today was Charlie’s birthday.’

Kirk’s parents were also in attendance for the ceremony despite remaining out of the public spotlight after their son’s death.

Friends and Turning Point employees also attended together with vice president JD Vance and his wife Usha, Trump’s son Don Jr and conservative media stars Tucker Carlson, Jesse Watters, Bill O’Reilly, Sean Hannity, and Laura Ingraham.

Erika, 36, fought back tears as she revealed she had asked their daughter ‘what she would like to say to Daddy’ on his birthday.

‘And she said, “Happy birthday Daddy, I want to give you a stuffed animal. I want to eat a cupcake with ice cream and I want you to come home for a birthday surprise. I love you.’

Few have deserved such an award more than Kirk, especially at his young age. Let’s remember to offer prayers of gratitude for all that Charlie Kirk brought the country he loved so much. I remember when President Donald Trump conferred the same honor on Rush Limbaugh, then dying of cancer. But political violence didn’t rob Rush of decades of his life. That’s the new, unsettling America where we live.

Trump Revokes Visas of Foreigners Who Gloated Over Kirk’s Death

One thing Charlie Kirk was very firm about what that America wasn’t a country with civilizational AIDS, which would passively accept the right of its enemies to flounce around on our soil and poison the place. So it’s entirely right and fitting that President Trump has acted to expel foreigners who approve of deadly political violence. MSN reports:

The Trump administration has revoked the visas of six foreigners deemed by U.S. officials to have made derisive comments or made light of the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk last month.

The State Department said Tuesday it had determined they should lose their visas after reviewing their online social media posts and clips about Kirk, who was killed while speaking at a Utah college campus on Sept. 10….

The six foreigners who had their visas revoked were from Argentina, Brazil, Germany, Mexico, Paraguay and South Africa. They were not identified.

Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio “will defend our borders, our culture, and our citizens by enforcing our immigration laws,” the State Department said. “Aliens who take advantage of America’s hospitality while celebrating the assassination of our citizens will be removed.”

It’s almost as if our country weren’t a dumping ground for the foulest, most hate-driven extremists on earth to congregate, while we helplessly look on and provide them public benefits. You know … like Britain.

British Veteran Left Homeless by Government That Caters to Migrants Takes His Own Life

Want to know how other Western governments, our NATO treaty allies, are treating their native populations? This Daily Mail story gives you a good idea. Rob Homans was a British veteran of two stints in the pointless occupation of Afghanistan (now back in the hands of the Taliban). He came back with PTSD, “broken” in his mother’s words, unsuited to look after himself. And his government abandoned him:

In August, the former Royal Horse Artillery bombardier was found dead at the age of 35. He had taken his own life.

Rob had been struggling in the years after he left the army. He was desperate to get back on his feet and had asked his council to help him find a house.

Veterans like Rob should have priority for social housing because of the Armed Forces Covenant, but Worcester City Council said ‘he’s not a priority’, his mother claimed, and only offered him an HMO far from his friends and family.

In August, Rob attended his brother’s wedding. He danced, smiled and saw his friends. Over the next week, he phoned his old army buddies and mates, catching up with everyone….

Homans’ mother told The Daily Mail:

‘He lost his home, he lost his job and he had to move back and be with me.

‘He had to start all over again and that’s when the demons come out to play. He was really suffering. He was suicidal.’

They went to a veterans charity for mental health support but were told the waiting list to see someone was six months.

‘That’s when his first suicide attempt was, in 2019,’ Dawn said.

After that, she set up Stepway, a mental health charity supporting veterans.

‘We saved so many lives but couldn’t save my son,’ she said.

Rob’s second suicide attempt was in 2023. He tried again in 2024.

‘May this year I had a call from him and he was upset on the phone and he said, ‘Sorry mum, I just can’t. I just can’t do this anymore. I love you but I can’t be here anymore.’

Meanwhile, jihadis who demand sharia law for Britain live in government-funded housing with multiple wives and large numbers of children on welfare, and natives who complain about that are sent to prison.

This is the future that the Left and the squish Right have in mind for the West. And they won’t give up on it willingly. For an American equivalent, read again the story of Iraq War combat hero Jake Gardner, who defended himself and his aged dad from a George Floyd rioter — so a woke local government in Omaha, Nebraska, charged him with first-degree murder and a hate crime. He was banned by GoFundMe from raising funds for an attorney, and evicted by his landlord, and eventually took his own life. And a Democrat member of the Nebraska state senate went online to gloat about his death.

How do we share a country with such people?

If Supreme Court Overrules Set-Aside Districts for Minorities, the GOP Could Gain 19 House Seats

The Left constantly milks the distant memory of racial segregation — legally forbidden more than 60 years ago — for cheap political wins. The most egregious is the regular use of grotesque gerrymandering to guarantee the election of far-Left candidates in “safe” minority seats — yielding some of the most extreme, divisive, tribalist members of Congress, such as Jasmine Crockett and Al Green (both Democrats from Texas).

Such “safe” seats were justified by a reading of the Voting Rights Act, which now seems likely to collapse under scrutiny from the U.S. Supreme Court — just in time for rational redistricting by Republican-run states, before the crucial upcoming 2026 mid-term elections.

The New “Jesus” in Mel Gibson’s Long-Awaited Sequel to The Passion of the Christ

Jim Caviziel is a gifted actor and a great human being. But like all of us, he labors under the curse of Adam so he’s aging. And at 57, he has aged out of playing the resurrected, 33-year-old Jesus in the sequel to Mel Gibson’s 2003 film of Jesus’s passion. Fortress of Solitude reports:

After two decades of delays and rewrites, Gibson’s long-awaited sequel to The Passion of the Christ is finally rolling cameras in Rome with The Last Kingdom actor Jaakko Ohtonen as Jesus, stepping into the sandals previously worn by Jim Caviezel…. He’ll be joined by Mariela Garriga from Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning as Mary Magdalene (taking over from Monica Bellucci), Kasia Smutniak (Domina) as Mary, Pier Luigi Pasino (The Law According to Lidia Poet) as Peter, and Riccardo Scamarcio (Modi) as Pontius Pilate. Rupert Everett has also joined the cast in what’s being described as a “small but important role”….

The sequel, titled The Resurrection of the Christ, picks up three days after the crucifixion, which means no time jumps, no childhood flashbacks, and definitely no carpentry montages. Gibson’s vision is reportedly so ambitious that it’s been split into two parts: Part One hits theaters on Good Friday, March 26, 2027, and Part Two arrives 40 days later on Ascension Day, May 6, 2027.
