Trump gets 30 new seats when New California Becomes a state!

Redistricting for congressional seats is rarely done in mid decade since the the U.S. Census is done by the first year of each decade it is not unheard of especially in Texas where their state Constitution allows for mid-decade redistricting. California’s adopted 1879 Constitution does not allow for mid-decade redistricting.  In order to change the California state constitution it would require the state legislature to pass a series of bills AB 604, ACA 8, and SB 280 in order amend the state adopted constitution with a vote of the people November 4, 2025.

According to CalGlobe “it is our opinion that such use would be restricted by the requirements in the California Constitution Article IV providing for physical presence and deliberation and open and public meetings. Bottom line: California Senate leaders violated the California Constitution by jamming the three redistricting bills through without so much as a brief Rules Committee hearing. The three bills, AB 604, ACA 8, and SB 280, should not have come to the Senate Floor for a vote on Thursday without a hearing of the Senate Rules Committee”.

In short the California State Legislature and the Governor are violating both federal and state Constitutions by their desperate attempts to hold onto power.
If the Democrats are successful they will redistrict at least 5 congressional seats from Republican to Democrat.
How Many Democrats are there in Congress from California?
California enjoys a “supermajority” in Congress and has enjoyed this status since 1996.  Here’s the break down of the Congressional elections from 2008 to 2024.
The Chart below shows the last 9 election cycles between 2008-2024.

There are 52 seats allocated to California since the latest census in 2021 and 53 allocated from the 2011 census.

The combined bills would produce a revised map drawn by the legislature and not the “citizens”. This map would yield 5 new Democrats in the 2026 election.  These new Democratic seats from California would offset the loss of the projected 5 Republican seats in the Texas mid decade redistricting. Under present circumstances with a corrupted election system for California which has 52 Congressional seats of which only 9 are Republican it would mean only 4 seats would be Republican of the 52 Congressional seats.

San Diego Republican Assemblyman Carl DeMaio said, “What’s happening in this building is pure corruption. It is illegal, it is unfair. We now have evidence that three sitting legislators have traded their vote for a seat in Congress with this corrupt deal. This is vote rigging happening inside our legislature. It’s absolutely corrupt to the core.”
With New California State soon to be the 51st state in the Union all that could change and dash any hope for the Democrats to get majorities in the House or the Senate.
When a new state is brought into the Union the map of the new state is considered.  This is generated by the prospective state then submitted to congress for consideration.  The New California State map was developed over 7 years as counties were added.  Currently the map is undergoing its final review and settlement.

New California State map solution is based upon the populations of the state of California. The population density map on the below reflects the actual map.

The changes over the last 7 years have altered significantly population densities in both California and New California State.  There have been massive shifts in populations from the urbanized areas of California into the more rural because of the COVID plus significant population increases due to open borders by the Biden administration and sanctuary policies by the Newsom administration.

The initial 50/50 split in 2018 that was proposed at the time called for 20 million people to be in rural New California State and 20 million to be in urbanized California. No political consideration was given as to where various political parties had pockets of power. The House of Representatives for California would have been 26 seats and 26 seats for New California for a total of 52 seats.  Again there was no consideration for political party preference.

But with the shifts in populations and the desire for people to have their county escape the tyranny of California we are looking at the possibility that California will have 22 congressional seats and New California will have a population to support as many a 30 congressional seats.

Now that President Trump is taking away the electronic voting systems in the states and demanding same day voting, hand counted with the result posted the same day as the election President Trump will capture all 30 of the New California State’s Congressional seats.   All done without a Proposition 50 or the shifting lines for the boundaries of the 5 congressional seats that Newsom seeks to upend the Trump Presidency.
