The Laughable Lie That Trump Supported Mail-In Ballots

Let’s be blunt: Donald Trump did not support mail-in ballots in 2024. The claim is laughable.

But party operatives and well meaning volunteers alike keep pushing the revisionist line: “We know we have to get rid of them, but first we have to win by using them.”

That narrative is worse than a contradiction. It’s impossible. You can’t “out-cheat” a system built on fraud by embracing it.

Trump’s Position Was Clear

While the GOP machine rolled out its “Bank Your Vote” campaigns, Trump was on stage calling mail-in voting corrupt. Over and over again.

January 15, 2024 — Iowa Caucus Victory Speech

“We have to get rid of mail-in ballots because once you have mail-in ballots, you have crooked elections.”

ABC

February 17, 2024 — Michigan Rally

“Mail-in voting is totally corrupt. Get that through your head.”

C-SPAN

February 20, 2024 — Fox News Town Hall, South Carolina

“If you have mail-in voting, you automatically have fraud.”

Fox News

March 21, 2024 — GB News Interview with Nigel Farage

“Anytime the mail is involved, you’re going to have cheating.”

ABC recap

April 2, 2024 — Wisconsin Rally

“We are going to secure our elections. Our goal will be one-day voting with paper ballots and a voter ID.”

C-SPAN

April 13, 2024 — Schnecksville, PA Rally

“We want to have paper ballots… unfortunately it’s now called election period because some of these things go 48 days.”

C-SPAN

May 11, 2024 — Wildwood, NJ Rally

“Mail-in voting is largely corrupt. Vote early IF YOU HAVE TO, but don’t think for a second it’s safe.”

NYT

June 18, 2024 — Racine, WI Rally

“We want to get rid of mail-in ballots, we want one-day voting, we want paper ballots, and we want voter ID. That’s it.”

C-SPAN

July 2024 — Pennsylvania Rally

“The mail-in voting isn’t working. It’s corrupt… We want to get rid of mail-in voting.”

ABC

August 3, 2024 — Erie, PA Rally

“The mail-in ballots are a disaster. Everyone knows it.”

C-SPAN

At most, he said “vote early IF YOU HAVE TO”, not because he trusted the system, but because he wanted people to survive inside it while he worked to end it. That’s not support. That’s survival advice.

The Machine’s Script

The party insiders, especially in Pennsylvania, were running their own playbook. It went like this:

“Yes, mail-in ballots are bad, but…”

“We have to beat Democrats at their own game.”

“We’ll fix it later, after we win.”

That’s the script they fed voters. And it’s absurd. You can’t win inside a system designed to be insecure. The more you use it, the more legitimacy you hand to it.

Legality vs. Legitimacy

The favorite excuse goes like this: “For now, mail-in ballots are legal, so we have to use them.”

That’s the cop-out. And it’s dead wrong.

Legality does not equal legitimacy. Something can be “legal” and still be rotten to the core. The system was built to favor Democrats, to stretch elections into “election season,” and to strip away transparency and chain of custody. Using it doesn’t level the field, it entrenches the fraud.

And Trump himself has now made it crystal clear: he’s not just going to criticize the system, he’s going to end it.

Trump’s Promise to Ban Mail-In Ballots

In August 2025, Trump announced he would ban mail-in ballots outright. He went further, vowing to eliminate voting machines as well. He called both “corrupt and inaccurate” and promised to replace them with same-day voting and paper ballots.

Washington Post: “Trump vows to end use of mail-in ballots ahead of 2026 midterm election.

Reuters: “Trump says Putin agrees with him: U.S. should not have mail-in voting.

That doesn’t sound like a man who was ever “supportive” of mail-in voting. That sounds like someone who’s been consistent all along: mail-in ballots are corrupt, and they have to go.

The Bottom Line

The truth is simple: Trump never supported mail-in ballots. He said they were fraudulent in 2020, in 2024, and he’s still saying it in 2025.

At most, he told voters to use them “IF YOU HAVE TO” while fighting to dismantle the system. That’s not support. That’s common sense in a rigged game.

So when someone tells you Trump was “on board” with mail-in voting, laugh. Then show them his own words.

And when operatives tell you we “have to win by using them first,” remind them: it’s impossible. Legality doesn’t equal legitimacy. You don’t beat a broken system by joining it. You beat it by tearing it down.

A Personal Note

I know this probably feels like going over ground that should’ve been settled long ago. Believe me, I’m tired of repeating it too. But when the lies keep getting recycled, the truth has to be repeated right alongside them. It’s frustrating, it’s exhausting, and yet I’m not stopping. I’d rather wear myself out telling the truth than stay silent and let their spin become the record.

Getting my thoughts out early this week before some much needed family time this weekend.
