TREASON OBAMA AND THE BIBLE

Everyone seems to be talking about how Barack Obama and others committed treason. It is helpful for us to understand what the Bible has to say about this subject.

When a sitting President and his colleagues concoct and execute a seditious and insurrectionist plan to bring down a sitting President, that was duly elected by the American people; that is the very definition of an attempted coup. President Trump describes it as “serious treason,”[1],[2] but it remains to be seen if Obama will be charged for this crime.

We now know, however, EXACTLY what Barack Hussein Obama did with the help of others under his authority, to create the Russian Hoax (lies) they made up to bring down President Trump. They attempted to overthrown (Coup) Trump’s Presidency. This is not opinion at this point, it’s a fact. Since this is a confusing subject, provided here are shorten definitions of related terms frequently misunderstood. One could argue that all of these could be applied to what Obama and others did:

  1. Sedition – When two or more people Conspire (Conspiracy) to overthrow the government; or Forcefully oppose government authority
  2. Conspiracy – People working (plotting) for an evil purpose; to commit a crime, as Treason
  3. Insurrection Any rebellion against the authority of the United States or the laws thereof
  4. Treason – A violation of a citizen’s allegiance to the U.S. by aiding the country’s enemies
  5. Coup – The overthrow an existing government
  6. Attempted Coup – The unsuccessful attempt to overthrow an existing Government
  7. Mutiny– A revolt of a group of people to oppose, change, or remove superiors or their orders
  8. Revolt –  To renounce (rebel) allegiance or subjection to a government

Even if Obama is not charged with Treason, there are other things he and his treasonous cohorts could be arrested for.  David Pollack outlined the following four FELONIES Obama and others could be charged with:[3]

U.S. Code 18 Sec.   371 Conspiracy to Defraud U.S. Elections[4]
U.S. Code 18 Sec.   242 Deprivation of Rights. Up to 10 years if it results in political harm[5]
U.S. Code 18 Sec.   512 Obstruction of Justice. Destroyed evidence, leaks, investigation interference[6]
U.S. Code 18 Sec. 1001 False Statements to a FISA Court or Congress[7]

TREASON IN THE BIBLE

Treason, has both political and spiritual contexts, and it is a frequent topic in Scripture. The Bible does not shy away from the gravity of betrayal and its associated punishment—either against a nation, a leader, or, against God Himself.

TREASON IS A SIGN OF MORAL DECAY

2 Timothy 3:1–5, describes the moral collapse of the last days. The traits listed include: lovers of self, boastful, arrogant, disobedient, unholy  and treacherous (traitors). Treason is more than a personal flaw—it is a negative spiritual condition.

This is not only a warning of government coups, but rebellion against righteous authority. This includes those who betray friends, family, government leaders, or God’s commandments; for power, self-interest, or self-gain. Eleven times in the New Testament Christians are called to obey government and other higher authorities. Christians should be law abiding citizens, however, there is one clear time Christians obeyed God not man. That is in relations to the freedom of speech, and the right to tell others about Jesus (Acts 5:17-42). In other words, the government should not suppress Christians from speaking about Jesus since this promotes morality and fairness in government.

TREASON IS REPREHENSIBLE

Treason is morally reprehensible to God, but staying close to Jesus is a safeguard against betrayal of others.  The very ideas of “The Ends Justifies the Means” is in direct contrast to the Word of God.  David is an excellent example of someone who was “a man after God’s own heart.”  This is demonstrated by the fact he was ordained as King when he was eighteen years old, but he did not try to take this control (treason) on his own, but waited patiently for God’s timing.  It was not until he was 30 years old that he became King.  If we are unhappy with the authority we are under, the Bible demonstrates that we should be a “people after God’s heart” by taking LEGAL methods, including punishments, to change things. The Bible clearly demonstrates serious punishment, almost exclusively, execution, for those who participated in Treason.

The Old Testament also has many references to betrayal, such as Jeremiah 9:4, and Isaiah 24:16, where treason against one another mirrors the rebellion against God. When treachery becomes the norm, it signals a collapse of justice and truth—conditions that lead to national downfall and spiritual exile.

SPIRITUAL TREASON: BETRAYING GOD’S COVENANT

Beyond human relationships, the Bible emphasizes spiritual treason—turning away from God to follow idols, false gods, or corrupt desires. In Hosea, for example, Israel is repeatedly called an unfaithful spouse for breaking covenant with the Lord. While not all these references are on the linked page, the spirit of treason is consistent: betrayal of trust, abandonment of truth, and a denial of the rightful King.

Those who promote communism, socialism or any other form of government other than our Constitutional Republic (notice I did not say Democracy), are committing a similar treason as outlined above. Treason is not just an act against a ruler or friend, but against God Himself. Rebellion in the heart, disobedience to the Word, and alliance mutinous powers are forms of spiritual betrayal.

CALL TO FAITHFULNESS

Betrayal is always a serious offense, and treachery is a sign of moral decline, a tool of the enemy, and a rejection of God’s authority. Yet, the Bible also offers a path to redemption through repentance and faithfulness.

BIBLE VERSES ABOUT TREASON

The Bible provides many examples of treason, both political and spiritual. God’s word highlights  the consequences of betrayal and rebellion against rightful authority.

  1. 2 Kings 11:142 Chronicles 23:13, Queen Athaliah cries “Treason!” when she sees Joash, the rightful king, crowned. Her accusation is two-faced, as she usurped the throne. She is executed.
  2. 1 Kings 12:16–19and 2 Samuel 15:1–14  Absalom’s conspiracy against King David, and political rebellion resulted in the division of Israel under Rehoboam. Personal ambition and poor leadership led to national division and conflict.
  3. 1 Kings 16:9–11, Zimri assassinates King Elah and exterminates his household, indicating violent treason.
  4. Numbers 16:1–33 Korah’s treasonous rebellion against Moses and Aaron, ended in God making the earth swallow the rebels.
  5. Judges 9:22–25and Judges 12:1–4 shows internal betrayal and civil strife among the tribes of Israel, leading to violence and destruction.
  6. Esther 2:23,2 Samuel 3, and 2 Samuel 19, highlight betrayal, shifting loyalties, and political plots, reminding us that treason is motivated by pride, ambition, or fear.
  7. Matthew 27,Luke 23John 19, and Acts 17:7 show how Jesus is falsely accused of political treason by religious leaders claiming He was challenging Caesar’s authority by calling Himself King. These charges led to His crucifixion.
  8. Genesis 9:6 (NIV) “Whoever sheds human blood, by humans shall their blood be shed; for in the image of God has God made mankind.” God places punishment in our hands.

The Bible exposes treason as a serious offense with serious consequences, whether against kings, governmental leaders, or against God Himself.

Anyone who engages in these behaviors in this country needs to be legally punished to preserve the freedoms the American people presently enjoy.
